Biography of Olaf Marek
After immigrating to the U.S. in 1978, from Germany, at age 10, Olaf Marek quickly adapted to his new life near Cleveland, Ohio. As a teenager Olaf worked with his dad during his school vacations, servicing heating and air systems. After graduating from Midpark High School in 1985, at age 16, after his junior year, he felt the calling to serve his country, and joined the U.S. Army in October 1985.
During his seven years of duty, mostly with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, he had the honor of performing several prestigious jobs to include Blackhawk helicopter crew chief, aircraft maintenance supervisor, and aircraft inspector being responsible for the safety and airworthiness of 30 Blackhawk helicopters valued in excess of 200 million dollars.
His dedication to duty and service was rewarded by achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, in a record time of 4 years and 9 months. Two years after returning from Operation Desert Storm, Olaf was medically discharged from the U.S. Army due to injuries he sustained in a helicopter crash, while stationed in Korea.
In 1999, Olaf used his military G.I. Bill benefits to attend the Tennessee Technology Center, and earned a diploma as an Environmental Control System Specialist. While going to school fulltime, he worked late nights at UPS in Nashville, delivered pizzas three nights a week, and performed heating and air maintenance work for one of Clarksville’s largest service companies. American Standard/Trane hired Olaf directly out of technical school, in August 2000, and he worked as a lab research technician, aiding in the development and testing of commercial heating and air conditioning systems.
Following his entrepreneurial spirit and his desire to serve the Clarksville community, Olaf opened CerProTech Heating & Air, LLC, in January 2001, part time, while still working as a Trane/American Standard lab technician, full time. After having seen and experienced the service other heating and air contractors extended to Clarksville residents, Olaf was determined to raise and set a new Standard for quality and service.
One month after September 11, 2001, Olaf was laid off from American Standard/Trane, due to corporate cut backs. Being deeply grounded in his Christian faith, and following his dream, he began building his business full time, serving one customer at a time, and striving for excellence in everything he does.
Today, Olaf and his wife, Angie, who is his office manager, as well as one of his school trained technicians, have 4 technicians on their team. CerProTech’s superior quality in service and workmanship has earned them the prestigious title of York Certified Comfort Expert Dealer, is NATE Certified, and is a licensed Tennessee HVAC Mechanical Contractor. It is Olaf’s desire to operate Clarksville’s best, most desired, honest and ethical Christian service company, and he is setting new and higher standards.
Olaf is a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather and serves as an ordained elder at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
